This template eases using the [[Monzo]] notation, because the pipe symbol (<code>|</code>) controls specific wiki functions and the greater sign (<code>></code>) has a special meaning in HTML (and thus sometimes also in the wiki text).

Usage example:

...will be rendered as

|-19 12>
